Long X Trading Post Visitor Center

The McKenzie County Tourism office is located in the Long X Trading Post Visitor Center.  It is the central location for visitor information on the area.  We can also provide facts and guidance on the area's cultural, geological, historical, and geographic attractions.
A paleontology display features the largest petrified tree stump(60 million years old) ever found in North Dakota (17,000 pounds and six feet in diameter and seven to eight feet tall), various displays and a timeline that leads visitors on a journey through the creation of unique natural resources and on into the discovery and settlement of McKenzie County. http://www.state.nd.us/ndgs/Newsletter/NLjune05/pdfs%20for%20web/stump.pdf
The Pioneer Museum features a variety of exhibits that highlight the history and settlement of the area including exhibits of the pioneer woman, the native american woman, the last lynching in North Datoka and the cowboy's role in McKenzie County.
